General Objective: This course provides a clear and practical introduction to HIPAA and its role in protecting health information. It covers PHI and ePHI, the Privacy Rule, Security Rule and Breach Notification Rule, as well as the differences between privacy, security and confidentiality. Participants will also learn how HIPAA has evolved through HITECH and the Omnibus Rule and how to identify, handle and protect health information to support organizational compliance and security.
